Day 91

Elder Hales gave a short story about compassion, and how sometimes simple acts can make a big difference. He shared a story about an elderly couple who was serving their mission in a small branch in Switzerland and how one young couple was really struggling agreeing with some teachings of the church, and how they finally told the couple to just leave them alone and to not bother with them anymore. The elderly couple sent them a bouquet of flowers and a simple message that said "We love you. We miss you. We need you." signed by the branch president. The next Sunday was a fast and testimony meeting and the couple came, and told the branch that they were thankful that the branch didn't give up on them.

Giving the flowers was such a simple act, but it made all the difference to this one couple. Sometimes we need to remember that people do appreciate small acts of kindness. We are here to serve one another, after all. And little acts speak a lot about people who do them.

The Lord wants us to practice compassion because a lot of times he uses us as his answers to prayers that have pled for some kind of relief. Sometimes a simple note or some flowers or just some kinds words are all someone needs to keep moving on.

I hope to always be in a position to be compassionate and to share my love of the Savior with others.
