I just finished reading a talk President Uchtdorf gave last conference about the things that matter most. It was so applicable to me and this new goal I have. He speaks about how being busy and productive is good, but too much business can lead us to be overwhelmed and forget what really matters most. I've fallen into that trap on both ends. Either I'm so busy that I forget to read my scriptures and just say hurried prayers without a lot of meaning behind them, or I have so much free time that I waste it on ridiculous things and then I feel lazy and very unproductive and dissapointed in myself.
It's all about finding balance. Building a relationship with Christ will help strengthen my relationship with others, and myself. I love the part where he talks about liking ourselves. It's just as important to like ourselves as it is to like other people. In fact, we can't truly love other people if we don't have a love and respect for ourselves. We can push it aside for months, and even years, but in the end we will be with ourself, always, and we should take this time to like who we are.
And in order for us to know Heavenly Father, we must know Christ. And what's so great is he wants us to know him. There are so many opportunities out there for us to learn about Him, and we can even talk to him whenever we want. He has given us so many gifts if we would just take the time to remember what they are, we would all be on a better level of knowing who Christ is.

ReplyDeleteMaybe, together, we can learn about the Savior and come to know Him, dragging each other along when necessary. I just want, so much, for us all to be together when we hear His voice and know it. What a joyful day that will be!
